"Oak Tree 2"
I love oak trees. My first acrylic painting was a small canvas of an oak tree, painted by looking out the front second story window of our house in the country. There was a particularly large one just outside our driveway. We estimated its age to be 200 or 300 years old.
This same tree has become the subject for a number of paintings.
I did "Oak Tree 2", on a16” x 20” canvas in acrylic paints, in the spring when flowers bloomed. Because some of the oaks produced acorns, a number of woodpeckers lived in them, which I illustrated in this picture.
The composition, entered in Hemet Valley Art Association gallery Bronze category won first prize.
