  • "Daffodil"

My father-in-law, Charles Fox had bulb flowers planted on the east side of his house in Sun City, California.  When my husband Joe and I moved to Romoland, California, I dug up some of the bulbs, including iris and daffodils.

The flowers have seen been flourishing in the planter on the north side of my house.

I love daffodils, the totally yellow trumpet shaped flowers, as well as narcissus, which are the yellow-centered flowers, and jonquils, which are all white.  So, technically speaking, the image in this painting is a narcissus.

They have such a sweet aroma and are so bright and cheerful.  I picked good specimens and used them for a still life in my drawing class, using graphite pencil to render their trumpets.  I also went on to paint this one in acrylic paints on 11” x 9” watercolor paper.
