Doug McClure as "Trampas"

     My sister Janice and I loved horses and when we were teenagers, we both had our own.  We didn't have a TV in our home, so when we visited family, we watched all of the western shows.  Our favorite was "The Virginian", based on the book by Owen Wister.

     The western series starred James Drury as The Virginian, and Doug McClure as Trampas.  My sister swooned over James Drury, but I had a crush on Doug McClure.

     Even when I was young, I tried to draw these actors, with not as much success as I would have liked.  Since then, I have always wanted to do a portrait of Doug McClure as Trampas.  I took my chance while I was teaching figure drawing. I think this will be a repeated subject, in a different medium.
