"Linus' Pumpkin 2"
The first version of this 11” x 14” acrylic painting on canvas came about for a children’s Paint Party, close to Halloween. I purchased a pumpkin at Trader Joe’s where they had very interesting looking pumpkins. I pictured that Linus, one of the Peanuts cartoon characters drawn by Charles Schulz would have picked that pumpkin. This is not the Great Pumpkin that Linus is always waiting for in the pumpkin patch, but one that he would like for its esthetic appearance.
I led a group of young people in painting, using the real object as a model, as well as having a Paint Party for adults to create a Halloween/Fall decoration. My image has been in numerous shows, in Lake Elsinore, Menifee and Hemet.
'Linus Pumpkin 2" is my painting done at a Hemet Paint Party in October 2019. This one I wanted to achieve the night time glow I see in our sky close to the horizon. I am very pleased with the result. I also imagined pumpkins in the distance, silhouetted in the field.
