"Pleasure Point"
A friend of mine moved north to Santa Rosa, California. She likes to take photographs of the area when she goes out for walks. One time she sent me an email with a picture of the beach, with lots of foam and waves breaking on the shore, with rocks and seaweed in the foreground. I knew immediately that I had to paint the scene.
I had seen Bob Ross on his television show, Joy of Painting, doing a painting with a river with rocks in the foreground, using a palette knife. I knew instinctively that technique, that style would be the best for creating "Pleasure Point".
I used a large palette knife and two small painting knives only for the application of acrylic paint on watercolor paper. The 16” x 20” became one of my favorites, and friends have said that it was the best piece I have ever done. (At the time).
October 2018 was the first year I entered in the Riverside County Fair at Perris, California. "Pleasure Point" won secon place in acrylic seascape subject, amatuer division.
