Aloe vera plants grow along the fence inside our pool area, as well as Japanese iris.  I noticed the aloes in bloom, with their red trumpets growing at different heights and sizes.  It occurred to me that they would make a nice composition.  Other places around town sported larger plants, all blooming.

     I pulled out an unfinished canvas, a duplicate of "Gazanias".   I kept some of the original painting in the upper left corner, and covered over the rest.  My composition followed one of Van Gogh's "Irises".

     The most fun for me in finishing a painting are the small  details, such as the spikes on the aloe pads.
