  • "Apple Tree in Bloom"

I had a dream one morning in my devotions.  I had fallen asleep, but the curtain was open, so the sun shone in on my face.  I could see the sunlight through my closed eye lids and the colors in my dream were orange-y red.  I was seeing a tree, in bloom, but with fruit on it as well.  It seemed to have Biblical significance, as when I woke up I felt strongly that I needed to paint it.  It was a representational abstract, as the colors were not quite true to life.  I did start painting that vision, my first acrylic ever.  Had difficulty with using the medium so threw it away.

I decided to work on a more realistic version with lighter colors, more pastel colors.  For this 12" x 9" acrylic on canvas panel I used one of our apple trees as the model.

After this composition was completed, I went back to the more abstract version and successfully painted "Apple Tree in Bloom at Sunrise."

"Apple Tree In Bloom" took second place when entered in Hemet Valley Art Association's Bronze category, April, 2019.
